Spend a spooky night at the Great North Museum: Hancock

The Great North Museum: Hancock is inviting families to bed down among its galleries this October with the launch of its first-ever Halloween Sleepover.

Taking place from 5pm on Friday 30 October to 10am on Saturday 31 October 2026, the Halloween Sleepover offers children and their grown-ups a rare chance to explore the museum after hours and enjoy a night of spooky activities. 

The evening includes creepy crafts and games, a terrifying trail, spooky story time, phantom forest school, fancy dress disco, plus a hot buffet feast for teatime.

Once the activities wind down, visitors will settle in for stories and bedtime among the museum's exhibits, drifting off to sleep dreaming of ancient worlds, deep-sea creatures, and natural history wonders. The following morning brings a relaxing planetarium show and a hot breakfast buffet, before guests depart the museum by 10am.

Alex Boyd, Public Programmes Manager at the Great North Museum: Hancock, said: "We wanted to create an unforgettable Halloween experience for families, packed with adventure. If you've ever wondered what happens when the doors close and the lights go down, now is your chance to find out." 

Tickets cost £85 (plus booking fee) per person, with dinner, breakfast and all activities included. The event is suitable for adults and children aged 6 to 12.
