Newcastle City Highlights Walking Tours

City Highlights walking tours take place daily from 1 May until 31 October (except Great North Run day).

Our walking tours around Newcastle provide a fascinating introduction to the 2,000 year history and culture of our wonderful city. Each tour is conducted by a fully-trained and friendly volunteer. We look forward to welcoming you.

Tours start at 10.30am at the entrance to Central Arcade on Grey Street, near Grey's Monument, and finish on Newcastle Quayside. Tours last approximately 90 minutes.

The route includes some steep steps which can be avoided when necessary. Please raise any concerns with your Guide on the day.

Tickets are £10 for adults and accompanied children under 16 years are free. 

Newcastle City Guides Season Ticket holders can pre-book a free space.

Pre-booking online is preferred. This guarantees a space and means we can arrange enough Guides to create the best possible experience. 

Walk-ups may be available on the day, cash only.

Groups of 8+ please contact us in advance.

Please note - assistance dogs only are allowed on our tours.

Many tours make use of uneven pavements and rough ground with occasional steps.

Each tour lasts about 90 minutes.

We try to stick to footpaths and use pedestrian crossings where available. Appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries that may affect you walking, please let your Guide know before the tour begins.

If you feel unwell during a walk, please let your Guide know.
