Newcastle City Guides Accessibility Guide

Here's what we can do to support attendees.

Accessibility guide

View of the Tyne Bridge.

We have been providing walking tours in Newcastle, Gateshead and surrounding areas for over 60 years.

All Guides have received comprehensive and detailed training in leading walking tours.

If you have any queries about accessibility and your specific requirements, please contact us before attending any walks. This will allow us to identify what actions we might be able to take to enable us to deliver a good experience for you all.

Mobility

Although not always possible, we use wheelchair negotiable routes whenever we can.

We choose routes with official road crossing points, as far as is possible.

We go at the speed of the slowest person.

Guides may be able to advise on accessible facilities.

Hearing

Guides will speak clearly at all times and face attendees to facilitate lip-reading.

If you have hearing difficulties, please let us know in advance.

Sight

Extra care will be taken with regard to road safety.

There will be an extended description of what is being "seen".

We will provide extra opportunities for feeling/touching/hearing, where possible

Assistance dogs are welcome.
