North East Museums announces new leadership training series for Newcastle's cultural sector

North East Museums is delighted to announce a fully-funded training programme for leaders and managers working in Newcastle's arts and culture sector. Workshops will be hosted at venues in central Newcastle, facilitated by Robert Laycock and Stephanie Cole of Yes We Can Community CIC.
The programme is a collaboration between North East Museums, International Centre for Life, and Yes We Can. It is funded and supported by Creative Central NCL, Newcastle City Council and North East Mayoral Strategic Authority.
Who is it for?
- Potential, emerging, new, and established leaders and managers
- People and organisations who are part of the Creative Central NCL initiative
- People who work with or for other arts and culture organisations based in Newcastle - as employees, freelancers, or volunteers.
The training programme
The programme consists of two parts:
Towards a coaching culture aims to give you the skills, tools, mindset and confidence to adopt a coaching approach and create a coaching culture. It is a practical and participative programme with two half-day, in-person workshops with time for intentional practice in between, plus a follow up check in workshop after six months. Your learning is supported by learning resources, tools and templates.
Learn it today, use it tomorrow is a series of short leadership workshops all about being your best at work and working well with others in teams and with other organisations. We’re running each of the seven two-hour workshops twice between October 2026 and February 2027.

- Workshop 3: Date TBC March 2027, 1.5 hours
All Towards a Coaching Culture workshops are held at West Medicine Building, Life Science Centre, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4EP.
