About
Join us for inclusive Early Years Storytime sessions designed to be accessible and engaging for children with visual impairments.
We’ll be sharing tactile editions of The Leaf Thief and Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs, featuring braille pages and raised tactile images that allow children to explore the story through touch.
After the story, families can enjoy a fun, tactile craft activity suitable for all children.
Our tactile picture books have been provided by Living Paintings, whose free library service supports blind and partially sighted children and young adults. Families are welcome to borrow their books directly through their service.
These sessions are open to all families, and children and adults with sight loss are also warmly encouraged to attend our regular Storytime sessions. Our storyteller always reads aloud, describes the illustrations, and we’re happy to adapt activities as needed.
And good news - we plan to include more accessible storytime sessions like this in the future, so stay tuned!
