Join us at Woodhorn Museum for our next Home Educator day on Thursday 14 May.

Book a workshop to take part in with your child and explore the Museum for the rest of the day for free.

While you’re here, enjoy free activities including our mini museum on Upper Ground and little library in the café.

10:30 – 11:30: Mining Banners

 Learn all about the importance of the colliery banners and the symbolism shown in their decoration before making your own banner to take home.

 Recommended for children working at aged 7+. 


13:15 – 14:15: Pitmen Painters Sensory Art Session

This session has been developed to explore the Pitmen Painters art gallery in new ways. We will guide you to use all your senses to explore the gallery as well as trying out some art and mark making techniques.

 Recommended for young people working aged 4+.


FAQs:

Do I have to book a workshop to take part?

· Should you wish your child to take part in a workshop you will need to buy a ticket in advance.

Can children attend on their own?

· Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult during our workshops unless otherwise specified.

· Accompanying adults are responsible for the behaviour of their children throughout the day.

· If booking as a group you are welcome to nominate one responsible adult within the group who knows your child them.

Can I bring siblings along?

· Our workshops have a limited capacity, and each child must have a ticket to take part. Babies and toddlers can be brought along to the workshops unless otherwise stated, provided the responsible adult is able to supervise the child taking part in the workshop too.
