Home Education Day: Workshops

Join us at Woodhorn Museum for our next Home Educator day this October. 

Book a workshop to take part in with your child and explore the Museum for the rest of the day for free!

While you’re here, why not relax in our café with a hot drink and take part in free activities at our mini museum stations and pumpkin trail.

Our bookable workshops are:

Mining and Mars

10:15 - 11:15am

Find out how mines in the UK are linked to the exploration of Mars, learn how to create a basic program using floor robots and invent your own ‘Mission to Mars’ challenge for others to try out.

Recommended for young people working at age 5+

Glowing ghouls

11.30 - 12.30

Learn the science behind why some things glow then get creative making your own spooky Halloween decorations that light up or glow.

Recommended for young people working aged 6+.

Spaces are limited and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Workshops will be led by members of our Learning Team.

FAQs:

Do I have to book a workshop to take part?

· Should you wish your child to take part in a workshop you will need to buy a ticket in advance.

Can children attend on their own?

· Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult during our workshops unless otherwise specified.

· Accompanying adults are responsible for the behaviour of their children throughout the day.

· If booking as a group you are welcome to nominate one responsible adult within the group who knows your child them.

Can I bring siblings along?

· Our workshops have a limited capacity, and each child must have a ticket to take part. Babies and toddlers can be brought along to the workshops unless otherwise stated, provided the responsible adult is able to supervise the child taking part in the workshop too.
