About

Join us at Woodhorn Museum for our next Home Educator day on Friday 11 July to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme by following in the footsteps of a Northumbrian soldier - from enlistment and throughout their active service during WWI.

Take part in with your child and explore the Museum for the rest of the day for free!

While you’re here, why not relax in our café with a hot drink and take part in free activities at our mini museum stations.

Footsteps of a Northumbrian Soldier (WWI)

13:00 - 14:00

Learn how we use historical documents to follow the journey of a Northumbrian soldier during World War I from enlistment to the end of his life.

We will also find out about the roles of other Northumbrians during the war and handle some objects our soldier would have carried.

Recommended for young people working at age 11+
