About

Monsters in the Wild is a fun filled family activity day to get us in the mood for our 2023 exhibition Myth Quest, opening March 2023.

Make & Take

Make some incredible mythical monster creations with a team of professional artists, do your monsters creations look similar to any of the monster creatures on display in the museum and what habitat do they live in? These activities are led by Artist Marek Gabrysch and Newcastle University researcher Lotte Dijkstra.

Show & Share

Take part in a monsters and beasts natural history handling collection session. Our team of curators will be on hand to talk to you about some of the mythical creatures, monsters and beasts in our collections, after learning from the expert curators maybe you would like to make your very own Microbial Monster Mask to wear around the museum, this activity is led by Charlotte Veal form Newcastle University.

Tails & Trails

Take part in a self-led monster trail taking in some of the most monstrous objects on display at the museum. Pick your trail up from the information desk in the museum shop.

This event is part of our Ways to Play programme of free and low-cost family-friendly activities.
