About
Make & Take
Today is all about the power of flowers, plants and creatures found in the garden. There will be lots of lovely opportunities to make things from flower masks to crowns. Or you can decorate our study garden with a flower chalk mural.
Show & Share
Follow the chalk animal prints to discover the Ome building just behind the museum, a new building that teaches us all about sustainable living and biodiversity and how nature can influence our daily lives.
We will have some experts on hand to talk to you about the importance of bees and wasps and there may even be a chance to sample some honey.
You will also be able to meet people working on making Newcastle University one of the first Hedgehog Friendly campuses in the UK. Although we won't have any real hedgehogs (they are all asleep in the day!) there will be an opportunity to meet some of the incredible reptiles from the Northumberland Zoo.
Tales & Trails
Our Environmental Records team will be here to guide you through a museum bioblitz and discover all the species we have living on our doorstep.
Ways to Play
Make your Ways to Play adventure a great value day out by travelling to our venues by the Metro, Ferry or Bus.
Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry with a fare-paying adult. Metro is the convenient, fast and frequent way to get to your favourite attractions and now it’s even more affordable.
Ways to Play is sponsored by Tyne and Wear Metro.
