KS3-5 - enrichment days

Museum visits in general are a great way to broaden your curriculum and develop your students' cultural capital. The differences with an enrichment day are:

• you'll often be the only school visiting that day - simplifying group management and safeguarding arrangements.
• you can bring more students than we can accommodate on other dates - for example a year group of 150 on 1 day, or 300 over 2 days.
• you can book 2 workshops per class, rather than being limited to our usual 1. So, you students participate in more facilitated activities, meet more museum staff and see more objects. This also means you minimise the time you're managing gallery-based learning, keeping it focused and impactful. 
• you can book further ahead - allowing you to secure the dates that fit with your school calendar.
• you have the choice to 'deep dive' into a particular subject, or go cross-curricular. For example, a Science-focused day could include workshops on evolution and a planetarium show about cells, plus time to explore evolution in the galleries. A cross-curricular day could include workshops relating to different subjects - Science and History say - plus gallery time for drawing (Art) and a teacher-led careers activity using resources we provide.

For these reasons, we highly recommend this for any larger group visits from a secondary age group.

If you don't include planetarium, enrichment days are free.

The only activity in the museum that incurs a cost is visiting the planetarium, which is an optional part of enrichment days. The further ahead you enquire, the more likely it is that we will be able to accommodate you. We open bookings for each academic year at the start of June, when you can enquire about dates for the next September all the way through to July.
