About

Join us for this fun, hands‑on activity for kids during the Easter holidays, where you’ll design and create your very own version of a Roman Diploma. Use real historical examples, on display in our Following the Eagle exhibition for inspiration.

Did you know that Auxiliary Soldiers, those who weren’t originally Roman citizens, could earn citizenship after serving 25 years in the Roman Army? When they retired, they were awarded a special Diploma, an official document proving they were now Roman citizens.

Now it’s your turn!

Gods & Goddesses Trail Hidden in different corners are our wooden Roman God and Goddess characters. Pick up your trail sheet and read the clues to learn about each deity, then see if you can spot their wooden counterparts along the way.

A great day out for all the family!

This activity is part of our Ways to Play programme of free and low-cost family-friendly activities.
