How would you feel being a Roman soldier?
Explore our fort site and stand in the places where Roman soldiers once stood to consider how you might feel if you were a soldier living here.
Through interactive activities and discussion, children will be able to recognise the different emotions soldiers had and how these could change depending upon the situation they were in. This session will help children to develop their own empathy and begin to think about how they might manage their emotions today, linking them to the soldiers’ feelings all that time ago.
This activity is aimed at children aged between 7 and 11 years old. We ask that parents are responsible for children on their visits and accompany the children on the visit. We suggest that younger siblings aren’t in attendance, except for babes in arms. Please dress accordingly for the weather as this will be an outdoor tour of our fort site.
