About the event

Newcastle City Guide, Anthony Atkinson, describes himself as a "self-confessed heroine addict" as he gives lots of talks on famous women from the North East, including Mary Eleanor Bowes, Gertrude Bell, Ellen Wilkinson and Mo Molam.

This time, he's returning to Segedunum to give a talk on Ada Lovelace, Lord Byron and Family.

The daughter of a disastrous marriage between Annabella Milbanke of Seaham Hall and the poet Lord Byron, Ada became a highly competent mathematician. She is often regarded as the world's first computer programmer.

Lord Byron was famous for a lot more than his poetry as you'll be hearing in tales about his controversial life.
