About
Make Thursday a Stephenson day. Bring your youngsters down to the museum on Thursday during the summer holidays where they can explore our wonderful collection of vintage trains. We also have loads of craft activities for them to try their hand at and let their imagination run riot.
Suitable for ages 3-7 years.
Thursday 26 July - Make a Victorian Puppet Theatre
Create your own puppet theatre in the style of Punch and Judy.
Thursday 2 August - Puppet Characters
Now that you’ve made your theatre, you'll need some puppets: make a Punch and a Judy - or dare you make the crocodile?
Thursday 9 August - Wonderful Windpower
Diesel, electric and steam aren’t the only ways to power up. We’ll be using the renewable power of wind in this session to make crafts that move.
Thursday 16 August - Painting and Prints
In the heyday of the railways, most stations had their own railway poster. Have a go at making a railway style poster for where you live, a railway that you visit or even a metro station.
Thursday 23 August - Railway Wildlife
We’ll be making crafts inspired by the wildlife that can be seen in the environments crossed by our railways, be it urban, rural or coastal.
Thursday 30 August - Views from a Window Seat
In our final summer session, we’ll be making a giant creative collage of what you might have seen from your window when travelling on a train.
