At Stephenson Steam Railway, we have recently developed a woodland walk at our site. Join members of our learning team and staff volunteers from the Environment Record Office Centre (ERIC) and National History Society of Northumbria (NHSN) to find and record as many species of plants, animals and fungi that live on our site.

Craft activity: Make a Nature crown
Collect natural materials from our woodland walk and use them to create your own nature crown.
In the museum you can take part in a scavenger hunt to find nature related items around the site.
These activities will take place from our education lodge which is situated on the meadow area of our woodland walk.
Visitor Information
Free, drop in. Suitable footwear is advised.

This event is part of our Ways to Play programme of free and low-cost family-friendly activities.
Make your ‘Ways to Play’ adventure a great value day out by travelling to our venues by the Metro and / or Ferry.
Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry with a fare-paying adult. Metro is the convenient, fast and frequent way to get to your favourite attractions and now it’s even more affordable.
