Workshop Summary
Take part in a new Full Day school workshop inspired by The Marquise de Seignelay, which will be on display in South Shields Museum & Art Gallery from Saturday 28 August - Sunday 8 November.
South Shields Museum & Art Gallery has been selected as one of just four partners to host the National Gallery Masterpiece Tour, a three-year transformative opportunity to bring world-class art to the North East.
Portraits are more than pictures. They tell stories about people, what they care about, and how they want to be remembered.
In this full day workshop, children will use sensory engagement, role play and group work to discover the world of portraiture, exploring how the artist used colour, imagery, posture, clothing and setting to tell a powerful story.
The afternoon will be dedicated to making a creative response linked directly back to the painting using collagraphy. Children will create their own 3-D printing plates and take home their own printed masterpiece.
