About the event

Segedunum is paying homage to the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Expect re-enactors demonstrating weapons used in combat, a parade of horses and a cavalry display, plus armour maintenance, cooking and crafts. Emperor Hadrian himself will be on site, overseeing the day's proceedings as he celebrates his birthday.



A great day out for all the family!

Make your visit a great value day out by travelling to our venue by Metro. Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry with a fare-paying adult. Save on adult Metro fares too by using Pop Pay As You Go - prices are capped at £2 for single trips and £4 for all day travel.

Nearest Metro station to Segedunum: Wallsend

**Important information**:

From Saturday 24 August until Sunday 1 September inclusive, the Metro line between St James and Wallsend will be closed for essential maintenance.

The replacement bus service 900 will be in frequent operation during the works and will call at or close to all Metro stations affected. Metro services will resume to all destinations on Monday 2 September 2024.

Please allow extra time if travelling to our Museum by public transport.
