About
Programmed to coincide with the monumental new installation Rosie Morris: Circles are Slices of Spheres, Dr Rachel Wells, Lecturer in Art History at Newcastle University, will give a talk exploring the significance of scale in contemporary art.
This talk will situate Rosie Morris's installation within the context of recent artwork that has addressed the issue of scale. Rachel Wells will identify a trend of contemporary art which reveals a fascination with scale, and will suggest that this trend has emerged against a historical and theoretical backdrop in which a sense of scale, and particularly of the life-size, has been radically challenged.
