About
A display celebrating the iconic Swing Bridge that connects Newcastle and Gateshead, for its 150th anniversary with historical objects, images and archival material.
Unveiled in 1876, Lord Armstrong’s hydraulic Swing Bridge across the River Tyne was the largest of its kind — a bold symbol of Victorian ingenuity that still stands proudly today. A brilliant example of engineering brilliance and Tyneside heritage, now a Grade II listed structure.
