A powerful exhibition of stories using film, photographs and words to celebrate the lives of first-generation South Asian women who have made Tyneside their home.
Produced by New Writing North in partnership with Search Newcastle, اپنی آواز Our Voice Apni Aawaaz is a storytelling project made in collaboration with a group of women who live in Newcastle’s West End.
Supported by artist, writer and researcher Malya Bhattacharya and filmmaker Julie Ballands, the group have shared personal stories of the journeys and experiences that have shaped their lives.
Funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Newcastle Culture and Investment Fund.
