About

Who said water and electricity don't mix?

Join our Inventor in Residence, Matt Wright for an exciting exploration of how electricity is generated in a hydro-electric power station.

You'll get to take a look inside a real generator, design and build your own spinning water wheel and work with Matt to test and improve on your designs in Play Tyne, our interactive water play area.

New Inventors: Inventors in Residence is Discovery Museum’s exciting residency programme working with STEM practitioners to devise and deliver a bold and innovative school and events programme to spark imagination and inspire a new generation of inventors, designers and makers.

New Inventors: Inventors in Residence has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Platten Family Fund at the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. The fund was established in 2014 and supports the charitable activity that inspires the next generation of engineers.
