About
Come and spend some time tinkering to create a fantastical invention of your own. Using cardboard, recycled junk and a few simple techniques we can get you on your way to engineering acclaim. Working with renowned cardboard engineer Lottie Smith, invent, construct and sculpt your own ingenious cardboard creations.
Take your cardboard creations to the next level and make them come to life with moving elements - cogs, cams, levers, pulleys and belts.
Have a go at building your own merry-go-round, create a pinball machine, design a robotic version of hook-a-duck or invent something completely new.
Stuck for ideas? Why not pop into 'All the Fun of the Fair: 135 Years of the Hoppings' and be inspired by our unique collection of vintage coin-operated amusement machines?
This event is part of PLAY+INVENT, Discovery Museum's family programme for budding inventors, designers and makers! For more information, visit www.discoverymuseum.org.uk/play-invent
