A Canny Christmas Grotto – Relaxed Session

Our Relaxed Sessions offer a calm and welcoming environment for visitors with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), their families and carers with a reduced capacity to ensure a comfortable experience.

A Canny Christmas Grotto is a magical Geordie-themed festive experience complete with a visit to Santa in a traditional grotto decked out in black and white – with elves to match.

Families can experience a warm welcome in an inclusive and friendly space with twinkly lights and a sprinkle of Geordie charm.

Tickets include a hot chocolate, sweet treat, festive crafts and photo opportunities in a giant sleigh, all jollied along by the friendly Geordie elves. Children under 12* will receive a gift from Santa too.

Every member of the party needs a ticket. *Babies under 18 months go free but must have a ticket to receive a gift.

What to expect:

• A warm Geordie welcome from elves in their special black and white costumes, spreading festive fun and cheer in Discovery Museum’s café
• Start off by getting cosy with a hot chocolate and a sweet treat
• Santa’s elves will take you along a twinkly walkway to the workshop where you'll see oversize gingerbread decorations and enjoy Christmas crafts
• Black and white decorations with a true Toon twist
• A giant gingerbread throne - perfect for making memories with your festive photos - tag us with your pictures or use #CannyChristmas
• A special meet and greet with Santa himself - with a gift for children included
