We are here: Inspirational Women was created by the community-led Exchange Steering Group, consisting of community activists, researchers and museum staff. 

Discover 16 inspirational women's stories around the museum in galleries Newcastle Story, Working Lives and Tyneside Challenge; exceptional women who enrich north east communities in medicine, healthcare, science, education, activism and politics. 

Exchange was a community-led, collaborative research project funded in 2022 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and led by National Museums Scotland and the National Maritime Museum.
