There is no café at Shipley Art Gallery.
You can find the gift shop at the Gallery entrance. You'll find a high-quality range of gifts, books and jewellery for all ages and budgets. You can also visit our Online Shop.
There are standard accessible toilets and baby changing facilities on the ground floor of the Gallery.
The nearest Changing Places toilet is Saltwell Park Play Area, East Park Road, Gateshead, NE9 5AX, a 10 minute walk from the Gallery.
The Gallery is on the ground floor and is level access.
The entrance to the Gallery has four steps and a ramp leading to an automatic door.
Breastfeeding is welcomed throughout the gallery.
We offer guided tours for groups to learn about the history of the Shipley and its collections. Tours are available Tuesdays to Fridays and must be booked in advance.

Shipley Art Gallery is a 20 minute walk from Gateshead by Metro.
You can make your visit an even greater value day out by travelling to Shipley Art Gallery by Metro. Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry when accompanied by a fare-paying adult.
You can save on adult fares too by using Pop Pay As You Go. Save up to £1 on single tickets and up to £1.60 on day tickets.
Those who are 21 and under can get around for just £1 on single fare bus, Metro and Shields Ferry journeys, and for £3 all day. Plan your journey in advance and track your Metro in real time with the Pop app. Search 'Pop Nexus' in the Play Store or the App Store.

Mainline rail connections to Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead arrive at Central Station.

The Go North East number 21 bus from Haymarket Bus Station stops on Durham Road, a two-minute walk to the Gallery. The Go North East number 52 from Gateshead Interchange stops on Prince Consort Road, directly opposite the Gallery.
The Shipley is off the main A167 road into Newcastle and there is limited, free street parking outside the Gallery.
