About

This curator talk accompanies the exhibition Pre-Raphaelites: Art and Poetry. Join Esmé Whittaker, co-curator of the exhibition, to explore the relationship between decorative art and poetry in both the highly detailed imagined worlds of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and the real interiors created by the designer William Morris and his associates. Discover more about the enduring bond between poetry and craft and the stories that inspired the beautiful examples of stained glass, metalwork, ceramics, wallpaper and textiles in the exhibition.

This sit-down illustrated talk will last for around 50 minutes, after which there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Dr Esmé Whittaker is Keeper of Art at North East Museums and co-curator of the exhibition.
