About

Pre-Raphaelites: Art and Poetry includes over 100 works, with loans drawn from across the UK. But the exhibition was inspired by two celebrated pictures in the Laing’s own collection: William Holman Hunt’s Isabella and the Pot of Basil and Edward Burne-Jones’s Laus Veneris. In this curator talk, Lizzie Jacklin will discuss how the two pictures relate to poetry and the wider themes present in the exhibition that they each speak to.

This sit-down illustrated talk will take place in the Laing Art Gallery's function room and will last for around 50 minutes. There will then be an opportunity to ask questions.

Lizzie Jacklin is Keeper of Art at the Laing Art Gallery and co-curator of the exhibition.
