About
In this talk, Jenny Uglow looks at the art of Thomas Bewick and Edward Lear, and shows how Bewick’s often comical vignettes, and Lear’s nonsense rhymes, conjure a wealth of human follies in miniature.
Jenny Uglow's award winning books include biographies of Hogarth, Bewick, and Lear, as well as group biographies such as The Lunar Men. Her latest book is A Year with Gilbert White: The first great nature writer.
The talk will last for approximately 45 minutes, with time afterwards for questions.
This talk is part of the events programme for the exhibition Miniature Worlds: Little Landscapes from Thomas Bewick to Beatrix Potter. Please note that if you would like to visit the exhibition before or after the talk, you will need to purchase an exhibition ticket on site.
