About
Rose Frain is an artist from the North East. She was born in Sunderland, County Durham and studied for her BA Honours Degree in Fine Art at Kings College Durham University, (now Newcastle University), between 1958 -1962, under the tutorage of artist lecturers Richard Hamilton, Victor Pasmore, Lawrence Gowing and Louisa Hodgson.
Since graduation, in addition to raising her son and daughter, she has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally including showing work at the V&A London, Goldsmiths College London, The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt and The British School in Rome.
Rose Frain will be giving a talk about her art practice as well as sharing her invaluable experience and insight into what it was like to be a student on the Basic Course and studying at the University, during this innovative and largely under investigated period in the art school’s history.
Rose Frain's exhibition Survey Works and new Works, will be installed in the Long Gallery from 27 September to 30 October. The book Rose Frain launches in mid-October, in the Gallery.
